House near Alton, Hampshire
The site is set within a beautiful, eighteenth century walled garden. The project involved the demolition of the existing 1950's house and replacing it with a modern, contemporary oak framed home.
The new house has a curved rear entrance from which the upper and lower ground floors provide accommodation for bedrooms, study, workrooms etc. The whole house has been designed around a central sitting, living, dining area where the oak frame structure is expressed.
Heating comes from a ground source heat pump with additional solar panels to the roof. The principle frame is of oak with timber windows under a slate and green sedum roof.
