The foundations of a previously unbuilt house provided the justification for the new house within a green belt setting. A sloping site on clay presented a challenge.
Using the slope, you arrive on the first floor to an open plan mono pitched oak frame house with panoramic views across the valley. A simple form maximises the accommodation on a tight budget and creates a striking contemporary house.
High levels of insulation and a condensing boilder, combined with the wooden construction make for a very green building with a low embodied carbon footprint. Solar thermal panels further add to reduced running costs.
