Oak Framed Extension

Background

The new owners of this tired cottage saw the opportunity for a large oak framed extension to the rear to provide a new kitchen, dining and relaxed living area.

Design

A new stair tower solved some complicated levels and heights around the stairs within the original cottage. A relatively simple move to angle the dining and living areas within the main Family Room resulted in the spaces looking towards the fabulous views of the south facing garden.

Technical

The project was self managed with guidance provided by Batterham Matthews. Incorporated within the design are a whole house ventilation and heat recovery system, a sedum roof, solar panels, PV's and a high efficiency woodstove.

Finalists in the LABC West of England Building Excellence Awards 2013.

Short listed - RICS South West Awards 2014.
