For North Somerset CouncilBackground
This beautiful Grade 2 listed school set within the heart of the village of Wrington was re-roofed during the summer of 2003.
The project involved obtaining listed building permission to replace some of the failing roofs with new handmade clay plain tiles, undertaking a number of repairs, and a systematic re-covering of all roof slopes. The tiles were selected and reserved prior to tendering the project. Wherever possible the older tiles were re-used on the public south facing slopes.
From the outset this project was planned to minimise disruption to the children and teachers, with the works scheduled for the summer holidays. A careful plan was drawn up which addressed the Health and Safety issues. By the end of the summer holidays the works to the classrooms had been completed.
The contract was completed in 3 months at an approximate cost of £140,000.
